14.) What are The Policies on Schools I.D's?

The safety of our students is always a priority at Sam Rayburn High School. Student identification badges help us to keep our school safe. These badges allow us to identify our students, faculty and staff at all times and to determine who does not belong on our campus.

The district also feels strongly about ID badges. The following is from the Pasadena ISD Student Code of Conduct:

Student identification badges are required in high schools… Badges shall be replaced at the expense of the student if the badge is lost, stolen, broken, deformed, or distorted. The campus principal will specify when and how the badge is to be displayed.

At Sam Rayburn, our students must have their badges displayed at all times. This is most commonly done by a lanyard worn around the neck. This makes identifying our students easier. All students will be given a new badge at no cost to them at the beginning of the school year. Replacement cost for a missing badge is the same as last year…five dollars. Badges are required not only for safety issues, but for other purposes on campus. Students will need a badge to check our textbooks, to check out library books and to receive school lunches.

Please take a moment to talk to your child about the importance of a safe campus and the role ID badges serve in allowing us to maintain that safety.
